How Often Should You Get Your House Cleaned?

There's no single right answer, but there is a right answer for your home. It comes down to how many people live there, whether you have pets or kids, and how much time you have during the week. Here's how to think it through.

The three common schedules

Most recurring standard cleaning customers land on one of three options. Each one fits a different kind of household.

Weekly

Weekly cleaning keeps a busy home consistently clean. Messes never get a chance to build, and each visit is mostly upkeep.

It's a good fit for larger families, homes with multiple pets, or anyone who wants to stop thinking about cleaning entirely.

Biweekly (every two weeks)

Biweekly is the most popular choice for a reason. It keeps the house in good shape without a visit every single week.

It works well for couples, smaller families, and homes with one pet. Most people handle quick tidying in between, and the cleaning visit takes care of the real work.

Monthly

Monthly cleaning suits smaller households that keep up well on their own. Think singles, couples without pets, or anyone who's often traveling.

The visit acts as a regular reset for bathrooms, kitchens, and floors. Just know that a month is long enough for dust and buildup to show, so each visit takes a bit more time.

What should shape your decision

Household size

More people means more dishes, more laundry dust, more bathroom use, and more floor traffic. A family of five in North Olmsted will usually need more frequent visits than a couple in a Rocky River condo.

Pets

Dogs and cats bring in hair, dander, and muddy paw prints, especially during Cleveland's wet springs and snowy winters. If you have a shedding pet, weekly or biweekly usually makes the biggest difference.

Kids

Young kids mean sticky surfaces, crumbs, and fingerprints on everything at their height. Families with little ones often find that weekly or biweekly cleaning keeps things manageable.

Work schedules

If both adults work long hours, evenings and weekends are precious. Many households choose a more frequent schedule simply to get those hours back.

If you work from home, you may notice mess sooner because you're in the space all day. That can also be a reason to clean more often.

A quick way to decide

  • Large family, pets, or both: weekly
  • Two to four people, maybe one pet: biweekly
  • One or two people, no pets, tidy habits: monthly
  • Not sure: start biweekly and adjust after a month or two

Why most homes start with a deep clean

Recurring cleanings are designed to maintain a clean home. If the home hasn't been professionally cleaned in a while, there's usually buildup in the details: baseboards, grout, fixtures, and corners.

That's why we usually recommend a deep cleaning for the first visit. It brings everything up to the same baseline.

After that, your recurring visits can focus on upkeep. They go faster, look better, and stay consistent from one visit to the next.

Signs it's time to change your schedule

  • The house looks cluttered or dusty again well before the next visit
  • You're spending weekend time cleaning between visits
  • You've added a pet, a baby, or a roommate
  • Your work schedule got busier, or a lot lighter
  • You're hosting more often, like during the holidays

Schedules aren't locked in. Plenty of households go weekly during a busy season and back to biweekly later.

What a recurring visit includes

A standard recurring clean covers kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living areas. That includes wiping counters and appliance exteriors, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, dusting reachable surfaces, vacuuming, and mopping.

Our cleaning team brings all their own supplies and products, and we're fully insured. You don't need to be home, and you don't need to stock anything.

Seasonal changes on the west side

Cleveland's seasons have a real effect on how quickly a home gets messy. Winter brings road salt and slush into entryways. Spring brings mud and pollen.

Many households bump up their schedule during these stretches, then ease back in summer. The holidays are another busy time, with guests, cooking, and extra foot traffic.

What to do between visits

Even with regular cleanings, a few small habits keep things looking good. None of them take long.

  • Wipe kitchen counters after dinner
  • Rinse and load dishes daily
  • Keep a mat at every exterior door
  • Do a quick five-minute pickup before bed
  • Run a hand vacuum over pet hot spots

These habits don't replace a professional clean. They just help the house feel tidy all the way to the next visit.

Can I start with a one-time clean?

Absolutely. Plenty of people start with a single deep clean to see how it feels. Some stick with occasional visits, and others decide a recurring schedule makes sense.

There's no pressure either way. Whatever you choose, you'll know the price before we start.

Recurring cleaning for offices

Small offices face the same question. Foot traffic, the number of people, and shared spaces like kitchens and restrooms all shape how often a workspace needs attention.

If you run a small office on the west side, our office cleaning can be scheduled around your hours.
